Does Buddhism and Buddha did not ask his followers to convert others and spread their religion rapidly?

what is ur comment ?

i have no intention to imsult Buddhism and other religion.|||Buddisism as espoused by Buddha is a universal teaching of compassionate love to all life forms, be it humans or animals. Buddha expected all humans to be kind and merciful, which are universal human values and by imbibing them one can be a better human being. Buddha never compel anyone to follow him but wanted mankind to follow his teachings.|||Buddha did not ask his followers to convert others and disseminate his teaching rapidly because his doctrine should be proved to be benefit by one who practice it, do not benefit to one by faith. The important thing is the disciples who convert other or disseminate his doctrine will not get any reward from the Buddha.

This is the essence of teaching Buddhism:

The dissemination of the Buddhist teachings is one of the main duties of Buddhist monks. The Buddha assigned this duty to his disciples in the early days of Buddhism. To him, the primary responsibility of the monks was to bring ultimate peace to mankind. In other words, it is their duty to compassionate the entire world. With this in mind, the Buddha sent out his first group of disciples, consisting of 60 Arahant monks, to spread Buddhist teachings only 5 months after the founding of Buddhism. According to the Buddha, the mission of these disciples was for 鈥榯he good of the many, for the happiness of the many, out of compassion for the world, for the good, benefit, and happiness of gods and men.'

The essence of teaching Buddhism is to disseminate, i.e. to lay bare the truth to laymen with the aim to enlighten rather than lure them to believe in what they hear. Whether they believe or dismiss this truth is up to them. If their mentality permits them to reflect upon the values and advantages of his teachings, then they are likely to believe and put it to practice without the need to use force or threat. Scholars who are enlightened by Buddhist teachings thus prefer to use the word 鈥榙issemination' rather than 鈥榙iffusion' or 鈥榮pread' since the latter denotes a negative meaning, as in the spread of an epidemic. This is the first and foremost premise of Buddhist teachings.|||In my opinion:

Since Buddhism teaches that good people will reach nirvana and bad people will be reborn, I feel that there is no use spreading Buddhism and convert others.

If I follow Christianity, and Christianity teaches me to do good, and love everyone like myself, then I will reach nirvana when I die too because I did good in my life.

Like wise for other religions. I don't think Buddha ever said that I must worship him then only I can reach Nirvana. All these while, we are told that we can reach Nirvana by doing good and by doing good we can get "enlightenment".

So, what's the point of spreading Buddhism if I can still reach Nirvana as long as I am a good person? If not, well, I can still reborn and hopefully in my next life I get to be a better person and reach Nirvana some day, right?|||No, not really. In fact, the Buddha taught that people should first show interest and request teachings from their side before one should give teachings to them.

In history however, there have been situations where missionaries were sent, most importantly by King Asoka in India who even sent missionaries to many foreign countries, but this has been the exception rather then the rule.|||They concentrated more of 8 fold path, his wisdom and freeing yourself from bondage of life.

In fact none of the Great Masters did. They did spread their Wisdom and Absolute Truth but later generations misunderstood many of their teachings and started too many branches out of their teachings.|||buddha is not a god, he is a teacher, he teaches people to be good, do good deeds and avoid doing bad things, it is not really a religion it is a believe
